The mRNA expression of five enzymes: catalase, Cu-Zn-superoxide dismutase (Cu-Zn-SOD), Mn-superoxide dismutase (Mn-SOD), glutathione peroxidase (GPX), and gamma-glutamylcysteine synthetase (GCS) each involved in protection against free radicals was studied in human and mouse oocytes.
