Peony (Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.) is a well-known ornamental and aromatic plant with hundreds of cultivars in China. The root cortex of P. suffruticosa is used in traditional Chinese medicine, and the seed oil has been found to be rich in unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, and stilbenoids.
