<p>As generative AI increasingly automates cognitive tasks, the temptation to outsource thinking grows. We argue that investing in epistemic labor – the effort to acquire, process, and evaluate knowledge – remains vital for sustaining the fulfillment of core human needs in a world shaped by generative AI.</p>
