<h4>Background</h4> Eosinophils are granulocytes associated with airway inflammation in respiratory disease. Eosinophil production and survival is controlled by interleukin-5: anti-interleukin-5 agents reduce asthma and COPD exacerbation frequency, and response correlates with baseline eosinophil counts.
