3beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase (3beta -HSD) catalyses the conversion of 3beta-hydroxy- Delta5-steroids into the corresponding Delta4-3-ketosteroids and is essential for the biosynthesis of mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids and sex hormones.
