Methylmalonic acidemia (MMA) is a recessive genetic disease caused by variants in the MMUT (mitochondrial enzyme methylmalonyl–CoA mutase) gene or by defects in transport or metabolism of MMUT cofactor (5’ deoxyadenosylcobalamin), including variants in the MMAB gene.
