<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> <h4>Background</h4> Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), an ultra-rare disorder caused by mutations in the gene encoding activin A receptor type 1 ( ACVR1) , is characterized by painful flare-ups and cumulative heterotopic ossification (HO).
