<title>Abstract</title> <p>Freezing stress affects the geographic distribution, growth, and development of potato, resulting in loss of its yield. Solanum malmeanum , a diploid wild species with strong freezing tolerance, was fused with a freezing sensitive dihaploid S. tuberosum by somatic hybridization.
