Arsenic trioxide (ATO) is now part of the standard regimen for the treatment of newly diagnosed and relapsed acute promyelocytic leukaemia. The availability of an oral form of ATO has greatly reduced the incidence of cardiotoxicity as compared to intravenous administration.
