Background: Epidemiological studies report an association between traffic-related particulate matter less than 10 microns in aerodynamic diameter (PM10) and COVID-19 morbidity. A putative mechanism is that PM10 upregulates of the host receptor for SARS-CoV-2, angiotensin converting enzyme 2 receptor (ACE2).
