<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> Programmed cell death regulates developmental and stress responses in eukaryotes. Golgi anti-apoptotic proteins (GAAPs) are evolutionarily conserved cell death regulators. Human and viral GAAPs inhibit apoptosis and modulate intracellular Ca 2+ fluxes, and viral GAAPs form cation-selective channels.
