The antibiotic vancomycin is often used in clinical therapy against multiple antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Twenty strains of enterococci, either Enterococcus faecium or Ent. faecalis, isolated from different cheeses were tested for resistance to vancomycin in liquid medium.
