Three PCR-amplified DNA fragments hybridizing with the OLE1 gene encoding delta 9-fatty acid desaturase of Saccharomyces cerevisiae were obtained using, respectively, genomic DNAs of one strain each of Kluyveromyces thermotolerans, Pichia angusta and Yarrowia lipolytica as templates.
