The problem of identification of true and false mutations of the mwh type was studied by means of gamma-irradiation in a test of somatic mosaics of wing cells of D. melanogaster. It was shown that the level of induction of mwh-like structures consisting of two trichomes and of true mwh mutations is the same if the former are located on the wing surface.
