Prostasin, denoted as PRSS8, is a newly identified human serine proteinase that shares high sequence identity with acrosin, plasma kallikrein, and hepsin (Yu et al., 1994, 1995). In the present study, a full-length PRSS8 gene has been isolated and characterized.
