This study found a competent transmission of hantavirus between cagemates using congenitally T cell-deficient Rowett nude rats (rnu/rnu). Intraperitoneally infected immunologically normal rats (rnu/+) did not transmit the hantavirus to their normal cagemates (rnu/+) but did to Rowett nude rats (rnu/rnu).
