Southern blot analyses revealed a rearrangement of the EWS gene in a skeletal human myxoid chondrosarcoma. Interphase fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) studies, using cosmid clones F7 and G9 that flank the EWS locus on 22q12, confirmed the presence of this EWS gene abnormality.
