BACKGROUND: Daidzein, an isoflavone in soy, is metabolized to O-desmethylangolensin (ODMA) by select gut bacteria. Not all individuals have gut microbiomes capable of producing ODMA, resulting in ODMA producer and non-producer metabotypes.
