Evidence from cellular and animal model studies has shown that p,p-dichloro-diphenyl-trichloroethane (p,p'-DDT) and p,p-dichloro-diphenyl-dichloroethylene (p,p'-DDE) negatively affect the macrophage's inflammatory response and resistance to pathogen infections.
