BACKGROUND: Autosomal dominant neovascular inflammatory vitreoretinopathy (NIV), formerly called "ADNIV," is a rare autoinflammatory condition mainly of adulthood caused by mutations in calcium-activated calpain-5 protease (CAPN5).
