Diabetes mellitus (DM) has been suggested as a potential risk factor for knee osteoarthritis (KOA), and its underlying mechanisms remain unclear. The infrapatellar fat pad (IPFP) contributes to OA through inflammatory mediator secretion. Mast cells' (MCs) role in diabetic IPFP pathology is unclear.
