Cold agglutinin disease (CAD) is a rare cold autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (cAIHA) caused by IgM antibodies recognizing I antigens on erythrocytes. cAIHA is now mainly classified into two types: primary CAD and cold agglutinin syndrome (CAS).
