PURPOSE: To evaluate the in vitro efficacy of cidofovir, ganciclovir, povidone-iodine, chlorhexidine, and cyclosporine A on adenovirus genotype 8. METHODS: Conjunctival samples were collected from patients with adenoviral conjunctivitis and cultured in A549 cells. Adenovirus diagnosis was confirmed by RT-PCR.
