PDGFRA and PDGFRB are classical proto-oncogenes that encode receptor tyrosine kinases responding to platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF). PDGFRA mutations are found in gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs), inflammatory fibroid polyps and gliomas, and PDGFRB mutations drive myofibroma development.
