BACKGROUND: Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a heterogeneous clonal disease originated from hematopoietic stem cells. Epigenetic studies had demonstrated that DNA methylation and histone acetylation were abnormal in MDS. Azacitidine is an effective drug in the treatment of demethylation.
