BACKGROUND: Normal-tension glaucoma (NTG) that occurs despite normal intraocular pressure has genetic predisposition. Since retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) are a key node in pathogenesis of glaucoma, neurodegeneration of RGCs is thought to be the main cause increasing the risk of NTG development.
