Rubber tree is an economically important tropical crop. Its endophytic bacterial strain Serratia marcescens ITBB B5-1 contains an intracellular macrovesicle and red pigment. In this research, the red pigment was identified as prodigiosin by quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry.
