A spontaneous, morphological variation 'sango' was observed in the progeny of a Pleurotus pulmonarius (Fr.) Quél. wild-type basidiocarp (also known as fruiting body) collected from the field. This variant developed wart- and coral-like structures instead of normal basidiocarps.
