OBJECTIVES: Preeclampsia, a pregnancy-specific syndrome, is associated with maternal systemic and placental inflammatory responses. Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) and cf-foetal DNA (cffDNA) in the blood are elevated in patients with preeclampsia and act as danger signals.
