Nitrite-dependent anaerobic methane oxidation (n-damo) is catalyzed by the NC10 phylum bacterium "Candidatus Methylomirabilis oxyfera" (M. oxyfera). Generally, the pmoA gene is applied as a functional marker to test and identify NC10-like bacteria.
