Processing bodies (PBs) are conserved cytoplasmic aggregations of translationally repressed mRNAs assembled with mRNA decay factors. The aggregation of mRNA-protein (mRNP) complexes into PBs involves interactions between low-complexity regions of protein components of the mRNPs.
