Adipocyte differentiation, or adipogenesis, is a complex and highly regulated process. A recent proteomic analysis has predicted that the nonreceptor tyrosine kinase Abelson murine leukemia viral oncogene (c-Abl) is a putative key regulator of adipogenesis, but the underlying mechanism remained obscure.
