Alisporivir (ALV), a cyclophilin inhibitor, is a host-targeting antiviral (HTA) with multigenotypic anti-hepatitis C virus (HCV) activity and a high barrier to resistance. Recent advances have supported the concept of interferon (IFN)-free regimens to treat chronic hepatitis C.
