OBJECTIVES: Recent genome-wide association studies disclosed that several single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), including tumour necrosis factor (TNF) receptor-associated factor 1 (TRAF1) (+16860A/G), are associated with the pathophysiology of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).
