Abstract excerpt
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES: Myocardial infarction and stroke are leading causes of death worldwide. Primarily, arteriosclerosis is responsible for these events. There is a strong family history suggesting a genetic cause. Apolipoprotein E (apo E) plays an important role in lipid metabolism.
