OBJECTIVES: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common ulcerative disease of the oral mucosa. Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene variants are associated with thrombophilia and vasculopathy that may result in oral ulceration.
