Currently, the only curative treatment for bone marrow fibrosis is haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, but it is only feasible in a minority of patients. Ruxolitinib (Jakavi, Novartis) inhibits Janus kinases, enzymes necessary for haematopoiesis.
