H(2)O(2) inhibits the [(3)H]carnitine/carnitine antiport catalysed by the mitochondrial carnitine/acylcarnitine transporter reconstituted in proteoliposomes. The inhibition was reversed by dithioerythritol, N-acetylcysteine and L-cysteine.
