The Aspergillus nidulans gene coding for acetamidase (amdS) was introduced into A. niger by transformation. Twelve Amd+ transformants were analysed genetically. The amdS inserts were located in seven different linkage groups. In each transformant the plasmid was integrated in only a single chromosome.
