OBJECTIVE: Cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) and matrilin 3 are extracellular matrix proteins that are abundant in cartilage. As adaptor molecules, both proteins bridge and stabilize macromolecular networks consisting of fibrillar collagens and proteoglycans.
