Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome is an autoinflammatory syndrome caused by mutations of the CIAS1 gene (currently named NLRP3), and is characterized by periodic attacks of an urticaria-like rash, fever, head-ache, conjunctivitis and arthralgia.
