Cryopyrin-associated periodic syndrome (CAPS) is an autoinflammatory syndrome caused by heterozygous mutations of NLRP3 gene. CAPS consists of three phenotypically similar but distinct syndromes: familial cold autoinflammatory syndrome (FCAS), Muckle-Wells syndrome and CINCA syndrome.
