OBJECTIVES: To develop a single multiplex real-time PCR assay to detect six different genetic types of carbapenemases already identified in Enterobacteriaceae (KPC, GES, NDM, IMP, VIM and OXA-48). METHODS: A total of 58 bacterial isolates were tested.
