Immunohistological staining of the connective tissue stroma of simple ganglia using monoclonal antibodies demonstrated infiltrating mononuclear phagocytes. These cells were characterised by positive staining for the leukocyte common antigen, the monocyte associated CD14 phenotype and HLA-class II antigens.
