ADP-glucose pyrophosphorylase (AGPase) catalyses the synthesis of ADP-glucose, and is a highly regulated enzyme in the pathway of starch synthesis. In Arabidopsis thaliana, the enzyme is a heterotetramer, containing two small subunits encoded by the APS1 gene and two large subunits encoded by the APL1-4 genes.
