Ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury, by inducing oxidative DNA damage, is one of the leading causes of increased patient morbidity and mortality in coronary artery by-pass grafting (CABG) surgery. 8-Hydroxyguanine (8-OHG) is an important oxidative base lesion.
