The maintenance of eukaryotic telomeres requires telomerase, which is minimally composed of a telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) and an associated RNA component. Telomerase activity is tightly regulated by expression of human (h) TERT at both the transcriptional and post-translational levels.
