Cancer patients with Down syndrome (DS) are susceptible to developing anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity. The pathogenesis of anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity has been linked to the intracardiac synthesis of alcohol metabolites by carbonyl reductase 1 (CBR1).
