Linear hybrid plasmids based on the killer plasmid pGKL1 from Kluyveromyces lactis were obtained by in vivo recombination in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Like pGKL1, the hybrids are located in the cytoplasm, have terminal inverted repeats (TIR) and possess covalently linked proteins at their 5' ends.
