Many candidate genes have been suggested as responsible for marbling in beef cattle, for instance diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase 1, thyroglobulin, growth hormone, leptin and stearoyl CoA desaturase. The objective of the present work was to evaluate the polymorphisms of five SNPs of these candidate genes in 389 animals of 18 Bos Taurus and Bos indicus breeds.
